Public liability insurance covers the cost of claims made by members of the public for incidents that occur at your bar. It covers the cost of compensation for personal injuries and loss of, or damage to property.

Our policies will usually give £2million or £5millon worth of public liability cover depending on your bar’s specific needs.

Employers’ liability insurance covers the cost of compensating employees who are injured at or become ill through working for your business.

If you have employee’s, this cover is a legal requirement.

Business interruption insurance covers you for loss of income during periods when you cannot carry out business as usual due to an unexpected adverse event. It aims to put your business back in the same position as you were prior to the event.

Examples of incidents may be fire, flooding or storm and we will usually provide cover for a period of either 12, 24, or 36 months depending on your businesses’ requirements and the type of property you are trading from.

Contents insurance covers the cost of loss or damage to your fixtures and fittings and business equipment, such as chairs, tables, computers, and televisions.

Depending on what area your bar is situated, you may wish to add terrorism cover, as this is generally excluded from most standard insurance packages. Cover can include damage to contents and property as well as loss of income as a result of the terrorist incident.

Stock insurance covers the cost of loss or damage to your beer, food, soft drinks and wines and spirits.

We will also offer deterioration of stock insurance to cover damage to stock stored in specified cold storage spaces, which occurs because of a change in temperature caused by a breakdown of the refrigeration equipment or accidental damage to it.

Depending on what types of live entertainment your bar has to offer, we can include cover to match your requirements. This might include live bands, DJ’s, bowling or crazy golf.

Making sure you have CCTV cameras covering higher risk areas such as dancefloors is another good way to protect your business should a claim arise.

Due to the consumption of alcohol, public liability claims from customers injuring themselves are commonplace in bars. Insurers will want to know if you have a dancefloor for customers to dance and confirmation of a written spillage policy to ensure the efficient management of slips and trips.

Damage to contents such as television screens, and other sound and lighting equipment is a common claim for bars with a lively crowd. You’ll want to make sure you have these, and other expensive equipment covered at your pub whether it’s from accident or malicious damage.

Speak to us and we’ll discuss in more detail about other covers you may want to consider when insuring your bar, such as loss of licence, liability extensions for mobile bars, and employee dishonesty insurance.
